Facility Management in high-mountain refuges is both complex and unique. On 25 September, we will hold an event dedicated to this area of Facility Management.

In 2026, coinciding with Barcelona’s designation as World Capital of Architecture and the International Union of Architects Congress, the 1st Barcelona Facility Management Congress 2026 will take place on 25, 26 and 27 November. It is being jointly organised by the Catalan Facility Management Association, Barcelona City Council, the Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC) and the Government of Catalonia.

Facility Management (FM) is the discipline responsible for managing built environments and their supporting services throughout their entire life cycle.

Following the Congress, we will present the book Facility Management and Architecture, which will address FM in sparsely built environments—including high-mountain refuges—for the first time.

Facility Management in high-mountain refuges presents unique and complex challenges, making strategic management particularly important alongside day-to-day operations.

For this reason, on 25 September we will hold an event dedicated to this area of Facility Management. Organised in collaboration with the Aragonese Mountaineering Federation (FAM), it will take place at the Cap de Llauset high-mountain refuge in the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park.
